Curriculum

Introduction

Our curriculum is broad, varied and rich in opportunities to inspire and challenge the children in our care.

We are constantly striving to improve and develop so that the curriculum provides all the knowledge, skills and experiences that our young learners require as they start their learning journey with us.

Our curriculum follows the latest National Curriculum and has a strong skills progression throughout the Year Groups. Apart from our Reception Class we have a two year topic based curriculum in each class which are themed around a quality reading book for each half term.

We are proud of the following aspects of our curriculum;

  • Quality French teaching in the Junior classes
  • Varied trips including residential to enhance learning
  • Promoting emotional intelligence.

Reading Schemes

We use the following books and schemes in our school to ensure that all children become passionate about reading.

  • Real books that are banded at ability levels
  • Oxford Reading Tree
  • Big Cat books.

We are constantly promoting Reading at home and school and give children as many opportunities as possible to share quality texts.

Phonics

We use the latest phonic guidance and follow Letters and Sounds in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
