What you as Parent/Carer need to do if a child is absent:
If your child is going to be absent from school, parents and carers are asked to notify the school office before 9:15am on the first day of absence.
To notify the school please leave a message in the School Gateway or by telephone on 01689 825827 and press option 1 to leave a absence voicemail. Please give details of the child's name, year group, the nature of absence and if know the length of absence.
Please avoid leaving messages regarding absence at the door with teachers when dropping off/picking up your child where possible as the preferred method is to leave a message in the School Gateway. The School Office passes messages to the child’s class teacher and enters the absence in the register if contact is made via the school office.
- If the length of absence is unknown, then the parent/carer needs to notify the school EACH MORNING that child is absent. If the length of absence is known then the parent/carer doesn’t need to ring daily.
- Please avoid making dentists, opticians, doctors or hospital appointments during school hours if possible.
What we will do
- If your child is absent from school and we have not received a message or phone call or been previously advised of the absence, we will contact the parent/carer on the contact numbers you have provided us with by message or by telephone. Please ensure that all of the contact numbers you provide are kept up to date.
The above process is for reporting illness and other appointments, If you wish to apply for an exceptional leave of absence please complete the Request to remove child from learning form.
